GAC has announced the launch of GAC Training & Service Solutions Limited (GTSS), a new initiative that will provide training solutions for the LNG and tanker markets, as well as other commodity and maritime sectors. A joint venture between GAC and the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI), the partnership will provide delivery of a portfolio of training courses for both seafarers and shore-based shipping personnel.
GAC says courses will be available at the US$100 million training facility at NMCI in Cork, Ireland, the client’s location and through the latest e-learning provision, or any combination thereof. Respected names in maritime training, including Howard Candelet, the former Vice President of British Gas LNG Services at BG LNG Services and Nick de Spon, a former master mariner with over 40 years high level experience of the oil and gas sectors, have developed and will deliver course content.

EGSAC, the independent cargo GSSA network, says it has appointed SNTTA Cargo as its exclusive member for Sharjah in the UAE.
Established in 1976, SNTTA Cargo represents Emirates, Iraqi Airways, Kuwait Airways, Royal Jordanian, Singapore Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines and Sudan Airways. The company has 25 GSSA staff, and operates from headquarters at Sharjah with offices in Sharjah International Airport, Dubai International Airport and Abu Dhabi. In addition to the customary activities of a GSSA, SNTTA Cargo also provides aircraft chartering and ramp supervision services. The company is an IATA-accredited GSSA, and is owned by the Liberty Investment Company - which also has interests in travel and tourism, automotive dealerships, transportation, logistics and real estate.

Etihad Airways says it has appointed Ahmed Thani Salim Mousa Al Halyan as its Country Manager for Qatar, based in Doha.
Ahmed has worked in the airline industry for almost 10 years, most recently as commercial manager for Emirates Airlines and prior to that, with Dubai Customs.
“As the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad is focused on recruiting skilled Emirati managers for key roles throughout our growing network,” says Peter Baumgartner, Chief Commercial Officer of Etihad Airways. “I am very pleased to welcome Ahmed, whose experience with Arabian Gulf carriers is ideally suited to this role, to the Etihad team.”
Etihad Airways operates four flights a day between Abu Dhabi and Doha.
