TNT Express continued its campaign to ‘Fight Hunger’ in Dubai with their bi-annual charity golf day, hosted by the Arabian Ranches Golf Club. Players made individual donations on the day for the charity, and successfully raised a total of 15,000 AED for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). The WFP is part of the United Nations system and is a voluntarily funded organisation. It is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.
Players teed off following a shotgun start and play consisted of a Texas Scramble golf format. Seventy two key customers of the logistics company were invited to participate in the event, with eighteen teams competing for the lowest score. The event follows a football tournament that was held in Kuwait at the end of last year, organized by TNT, held with an aim to raise awareness of child famine, and raise funds for the worthy cause
Players teed off at 12.30pm, and then later that evening, hungry and thirsty golfers made their way to a drinks reception and winners presentation, followed by a dinner buffet. “TNT is happy to report that the golf day was a great success, and we would like to thank everyone that took part for their generous donations,” says Mark Woodcock, Sales and Commercial Director of TNT Express UAE. “The World Food Programme does such vital work for children living without food every day, and this event was a great start to the year. We are proud to support WFP in their mission to fight hunger worldwide and TNT will continue are fund raising activities.”
