Alliance formed

Saudi Arabian supply chain and logistics company Hala Supply Chain Services (HSCS) and South Africa’s pioneering pharmaceutical distributor PHD have formed a strategic alliance.

PHD, the first manufacturer-independent pharmaceutical distribution service in South Africa, offers a quality controlled and dependable, direct distribution channel for healthcare products to South Africa’s healthcare professionals and to the public health system. Distributing approximately 8 million units of pharmaceutical products per month, through more than nine thousand delivery points around Southern Africa, PHD services the full spectrum of the healthcare market.

PHD says it won the coveted gold award at the Logistics Achiever of the Year awards for the supply chain that they built and operate to distribute HIV/Aids drugs into Africa for PEPFAR, under contract to USAID.

HSCS says it is the supply chain services company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, offering a number of high value supply chain and logistics services within the country.

The mutually beneficial strategic alliance between the two companies will see HSCS gain access to world-class expertise in the distribution of healthcare products, while PHD will see a significant expansion of their influence in the Middle East.

“Hala is very pleased to have formed an alliance with PHD – considered to be world class in its field of healthcare product distribution. This strategic alliance is indicative of Hala’s firm belief in the value of collaborative relationships. Through such a partnership solutions may be continuously improved and access to global best practises achieved. The result ultimately being sustainable competitive advantage for both companies” said HSCS General Manager Husam S. Al-Saleh.
