TNT Express, a global leader in mail and express delivery services has announced the extension of its road network in the Middle East. Its destinations now include Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and Yemen. With further expansion of its services in India and China also recently announced, the company is on its way to achieving its aim of becoming an industry leader in emerging markets around the world. With trade between these markets growing, expansions in these key regions complements one another, and provide TNT with the opportunity to acquire more business, facilitating further growth.
In China TNT’s expansion plan consists of opening eight more branches by the end of this year which will bring the total number to 34. Branches are to be opened around the areas of the Pearl river delta and Yangtse river delta area which are experiencing great economic growth. TNT is the first company to establish an integrated road network between China and South East Asia which now links 120 cities in the two regions including the countries of Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
In India close to US $1.4 Million or 500 million AED has been spent on achieving the company’s expansion. Today it is able to provide both domestic and international delivery solutions through a joint road and air network. With currently 200,000 sq ft of land in the major cities of Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Nagpur and Kolkata in its ownership, TNT is currently in the process of buying a further 400,000 sq ft to meet increasing demand for its services.
Expansion in India and China is of great benefit to TNT in the UAE as trade between these regions is seeing continuous growth, particularly in the case of China which is the UAE’s largest source of imports. Owing to continued expansion in the Middle East, China and India TNT Express is in a position to offer greater flexibility, wider geographical coverage and enhanced services to regional customers.
On TNT’s recent expansion plans Mark Woodcock, Sales & Commercial Director for TNT Express in the UAE made the following comment – “Many hundreds of tonnes of goods are transported from India and China by TNT. With the company’s plans for further growth and improvement of its services in these regions we look forward to offering our clients more robust services, especially when linking onto our Middle East Road Network. TNT’s growth in emerging markets stands at over 18%, a figure to which delivery services in India, China and the Middle East markets have made a significant contribution.”
