The WTA Techno-Mart
The WTA Techno-Mart successfully displayed all that’s new in the world of technological products and gizmos. What stood out though was Dubai World’s latest DubaiTrade.ae portal.
Attending this year’s World Technopolis Association (WTA) Techno-Mart, the annual showcase of new technologies and hi-tech products, it was easy to get lost amongst the vibrant booth displays and product demonstrations. Like proud parents showing off their children, each vendor seemed keen on elucidating their newfound concepts to the attendees. With over 100 exhibitors from all over the world, one had the sense that the exhibits of today would inevitably be the essentials of tomorrow.
“This conference and exhibition brings together the region’s premier institutions and global leaders in the science and technology arena, in one place,” said Salma Hareb, CEO of Jafza International.
“Above all, this event provides a platform for entrepreneurship and enabling discussions on synergistic partnerships between businesses and institutions while promoting investment and information exchange,” said Hareb.
Hosted by Dubai World’s TechnoPark, the two-day conference was largely comprised of technology companies, research institutes, and governmental organisations, each seeking to openly exchange information and build upon relationships.
As necessity is the mother of innovation, supply chain and logistics professionals will no doubt welcome Dubai World’s contribution to the event. Developed locally, Dubai Trade is an innovative portal that combines all electronic services provided by Dubai Ports, Customs and FreeZone Corporations. In what’s described as an “indispensable tool for the trade industry,” users will have 24/7 secure access to all services with only a single log on, and can easily view invoices and forward payments online.
“DubaiTrade.ae will bring together over 50,000 companies that trade and interact with Ports Customs and FreeZone Corporation into a single community, ensuring that they become partners in the trade process,” said Fayez Maarrawi, Marketing Manager, Dubai Trade.
“Our vision will be to transform the entire supply chain, from end to end. Make it all one seamless process for the user, be it import, export, everything you need to do will be available online. What we intend to do is create a community between the stakeholders of the supply chain, suppliers, service providers, customers, who will all be able to deal with each other online, and do the processes as well,” said Maarrawi.
After all, who wants to wait in queue for three hours, just for some regulatory paperwork?
